Description

Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce is the perfect tropical condiment, combining the sweet tanginess of pineapple with the fiery kick of habanero peppers. It’s easy to make, customizable to your spice tolerance, and adds a flavorful twist to tacos, grilled meats, marinades, and more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ripe pineapple, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 56 habanero peppers, stems removed (adjust for heat preference)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pineapple: Peel and core the pineapple, then chop it into small chunks.
  • Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  • Add Habaneros: Add habanero peppers to the pan and sauté for another 2-3 minutes. Ensure proper ventilation.
  • Blend the Mixture: Transfer sautéed ingredients to a blender. Add pineapple, lime juice, vinegar, honey, salt, and cumin. Blend until smooth.
  • Adjust Consistency: If too thick, add more vinegar or water. Blend again.
  • Simmer the Sauce: Pour blended sauce into a pan. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and Adjust: Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Cool and Store: Let cool completely, then transfer to sterilized jars or bottles. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Heat Adjustment: For milder sauce, use fewer habaneros or remove seeds and membranes.
  • Alternative Sweeteners: Replace honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • Vinegar Options: Substitute apple cider vinegar with rice vinegar or lemon juice.
  • Flavor Boost: Add cilantro, smoked paprika, or grated ginger for variations.
  • Storage: Freeze in small portions for longer shelf life.
